Every Learner Deserves Access

Making STEM learning more accessible, inclusive, and discoverable for educators and K–12 learners across Canada.

About

Equitable Access to Reading Program
(EARP)

The Equitable Access to Reading Program (EARP) is a Government of Canada–funded initiative led by SCWIST that aims to increase access to high-quality alternate format reading materials (ARF), with a focus on K–12 STEM/STEAM education.

Through EARP, SCWIST is creating alternate reading format STEM resources that are accessible, inclusive, and relevant for diverse learners across Canada. The collection will include STEM content that reflects:

  • Indigenous Knowledge Systems and perspectives

  • STEM history and contributions from diverse communities

  • Experiences and voices from equity-deserving groups

The project brings together educators, youth, and subject matter experts through Youth and Expert Advisory Panels to help ensure resources are meaningful, inclusive, and aligned with the ways young people learn and engage with STEM today.

Feature Author Series

A core part of the Equitable Access to Reading Project is our Feature Author Series, where we’ll be highlighting authors who are bringing STEM to life through literature. Their books will be showcased in our national repository of alternate format reading materials, reaching educators and institutions across Canada and becoming part of a legacy of inclusive STEM learning.

Many publishing houses allow nonprofits, like ours, to adapt books for accessibility purposes — yours may too!
Submit your book to the Feature Author Series here. (opens in a new tab)
